An Introduction to Mountain Bike Riding for Young People 9+

Join us this October Bike Month for Wheels of Wellbeing: An Introduction to Mountain Bike Riding in the Collie River Valley Region, with thanks to the Department of Transport and Major Infrastructure Bike Month Grant! This program is designed for young people aged 9 and above, this exciting 4-session beginner mountain biking program is perfect for families eager to explore the trails, build skills, and have fun.

Includes:

  • 3x 3 hour Guided Rides and Coaching sessions
  • Basic Bike Maintenance Workshop at Crank N Cycles
  • Bike and helmet hire (if required)
  • 2 qualified local coaches
  • Water and snacks
  • Dam Fun Family Ride Day with BBQ

Proposed Dates:

  • Friday, October 10th 5.30pm -7.30pm — Bike Check and Basic Maintenance Workshop at Crank N Cycles; to ensure your bike is safe and in tip top condition to hit the trails.
  • Saturday’s October 11th, 18th, and 25th 2.00pm – 5.00pm – meet at Adventure Connections Trails Centre in Wellington National Park.

Cost: $40 per child for the 4 sessions including the Dam Fun Family Day. Parent is free of charge.

This program aims to promote physical and mental wellbeing, outdoor adventure, and social connection. Plus, with support from the Collie MTB Association, we’ll be raising awareness of the local mountain bike club and future opportunities to continue mountain biking in the area.

Terms and Conditions

  • The fee of $40 covers all three guided rides, the Bike Maintenance Workshop, and the Dam Fun Family Ride Day. This fee is non-refundable.
  • If a participant misses a session, no make-up sessions will be offered, as this is a special program for Bike Month only.
  • One parent must participate with the enrolled young person at all sessions.
  • All parents/guardians are required to complete a liability waiver, which will be provided at the first session, prior to participation.
  • We have pedal assist e-bikes available for hire for parents if needed.
  • A limited number of bikes are available for young people requiring one; these must be reserved in advance.
  • Participants are expected to follow safety instructions and conduct themselves responsibly throughout the program to ensure everyone’s safety.
  • Please inform us of any medical conditions or injuries relevant to participation.
  • Photos and videos taken during the program may be used for promotional purposes unless otherwise notified.
  • All sessions will be conducted in suitable weather conditions; in case of severe weather, sessions may be rescheduled or cancelled.
